TisF has discovered a new way to work out...Bikram Yoga!

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj", i.e. "to yoke" [to the spirit] meaning "union of the Individual Soul (Atman) with the Universal Soul (Brahman). "Atman" and "Brahman" are Hindu idealogical terms, and are used as a reference for the mind, whereas there truly is only Oneness.

Bikram Yoga was developed by Bikram Choudhury and is a 90 minute beginning yoga class comprised of 26 postures (asanas) and 2 breathing exercises practiced in a 105 F hot room with 40% humidity.

This smart choreography instigates better health from the first visit and other rewards include:
  • Sleep Deeply
  • Reduce Stress
  • Lubricate Joints
  • Improve Posture
  • Gives Skin a Healthy Glow
  • Strengthen Heart
  • Normalize Weight
  • Increase Stamina
  • Relieve Chronic Pain
  • Stretch & Tone Muscles
  • Mental Clarity
You are probably wondering why the room is so hot. The heat helps to:
  • Detoxify your body through sweating
  • Protect muscles for deeper stretching
  • Thin the blood to clear the circulatory system
  • Increase heart rate for a better cardio workout
Make sure you hydrate yourself before and during class.  It is hot in there.  You are going to sweat a lot.  Wear light, dry-weave fabrics and non-restricting clothing. Good luck and Namaste!
