DirtyFranks2What is your idea of Fabulous?
Believe it or not, fabulous in Columbus, Ohio is incredibly easy to find, it seems to lurk all over the city. The Short North Arts District just north of Downtown Columbus is my personal favorite, an arts, shopping, eating, drinking & debauchery destination.

Who is the most Fabulous person you know?
Melaine Mahaffey, the owner of Mary Catherine's Antiques. Mary Catherine's is a funky arts, antiques and oddities store in the Short North. Melaine and her mother opened the shop 30 years ago and there is never a shortage of amazing finds, wonderful stories or local color sprinkled throughout the shop. In a neighborhood that is always gentrifying and changing with the times, Melaine's shop is a timeless classic.

Surly-GirlWhich Fabulous word do you use most?
I love the word surly. So much so we named a saloon after it, the Surly Girl Saloon!  We love a Surly Girl.

What is your greatest (most Fabulous) extravagance?
Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, a locally made ice creamery specializing in some of the best flavors on earth. My favorites are Red Beet & Lemon Poppy seed or Queen City Cayenne (spicy chocolate!)

Where would you like or prefer to live your Fabulous life?
In the moment! Any city or neighborhood that allows me to feel like I can make a difference.

What do you consider your greatest (most Fabulous) achievement?
Let's talk trash!  I'm very proud of our recycling efforts at all of our restaurants. We proudly recycle all of our glass, aluminum, plastic and cardboard as well as continually implement new green systems within our restaurants. In an industry that's notorious for generating obscene amounts of waste, we are proud to be part of the solution! We earned the City of Columbus's first Green Spot, we earned a Green Innovation award from the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, and a Green Leader Award from Ohio Environmental Council over the past year. We have an Environmental Steward on staff, she works with the restaurants on a regular basis to ensure we are running the most sustainable operations possible.

What is your (Fabulous) motto?
Eat our ideals!
