SANSOVINO6-PE10-Looks1-1-1TisF Spends Five Fabulous Minutes With Edward Buchanan.

Edward Buchanan is a fashion designer working between Milano and New York City.  Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio Edward knew at an early age that artistic expression was his calling.  Creative people constantly surrounded Edward while growing up.  His mother is a pianist, and his grandmother was a seamstress.

Edward moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1988 to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design to major in retail advertising and fashion illustration.  After his junior year, and a superb foundation, he made the decision to move to New York City in order to pursue his dream of becoming a fashion designer.  Upon arrival in New York City to make ends meet, Edward worked as a visual merchandiser for the Gap while enlisting in full time courses at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in 1992. Throughout his junior and senior years of studies Edward was very busy in developing exterior freelance accounts as a window dresser, design intern, and fashion illustrator. Accounts with design houses such as Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Jcrew, and Michael Kors allowed him to hone his skills while working towards a full time design job. Graduating with a BFA and being awarded with an honorary doctors, as well as, winning the Parsons silver and gold thimble awards prepared Edward to launch into the world of design. This experience was also key in landing him his first full-time design job as design director for the luxury Italian brand Bottega Veneta.

SANSOVINO6-PE10-Looks1-1-5Edward moved to Milano, Italy in 1995, and worked for Bottega Veneta for 6 years.  Prior to arriving at Bottega, the collection was primarily luxury accessories.  Edward was hired to develop a capsule collection of knitwear and leather goods to round off the world of Bottega Veneta. The collection was an instantaneous success and enabled Bottega Veneta to launch a wholesale business after the first fashion show. Bottega Veneta became a huge triumph within the luxury goods RTW market. Staging fashion shows in Italy, Japan, and America also assisted in building the brands international profile.  After a much-publicized success, Edward decided that it was time to start his own collection.  LEFLESH was started with Manuela Morin, the accessories designer from Bottega Veneta in the fall 2001. The collection was started as a complete look consisting of Knitwear, ready to wear, bags, and shoes. LEFLESH fall winter 2001 was presented to press and buyers in a small Milanese dance studio. The collection was so well received that a press office in Paris was immediately taken on.  The idea was to mend luxury quality with unique contemporary styling "Creative Luxury". LEFLESH was distributed in international boutiques worldwide. The collection has been aggressively profiled with distribution offices in Japan, America, and Europe.
