TisF Finds the Meaning of Luxury at Indagare.
When a partner at Blackstone wanted advice on how to take his family on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Alaska, he called the same person who had just helped a fund manager looking for a Christmas rental more spectacular than Richard Branson's private Necker Island: Melissa Biggs Bradley, founder of Indagare. Bradley was the travel editor at Town & Country for almost a dozen years. She knows the world's hot travel spots and has relationships with the people who can make a stay extraordinary.
Indagare has grown from a web site and newsletter into a kind of virtual club for globetrotters. Many of Bradley's favorite addresses and contacts are available online and in the sleek black newsletters that members receive bimonthly. Indagare offers travel advisory service to its members, who have a direct line for advice on which lodge in Botswana is best for kids or how to find a wine tutor for a day trip in Burgundy.
What is your idea of Fabulous?
MB: Anything that reminds you loud and clear how lucky you are to be right where you are doing what you are doing is a blessing.
Who is the most Fabulous person you know?
MB: My kids are fabulous every day. F. Scott Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell are two fabulously inspiring artists.
Which Fabulous word do you use most?
MB: Brilliant because it's about intelligence, illumination and shocking power.
What is your greatest (most Fabulous) extravagance?
MB: Being able to visit multiple continents every year is something that I feel wildly lucky to be able to do. Every six months I am usually on at least three different continents and to be on the Serengeti one week, in London another and then Savannah, Georgia or Big Sky, Montana a few weeks later is something that I still find extraordinary.
Where would you like or prefer to live your Fabulous life?
MB: I love combining New York with trips everywhere but if I had to be trapped in one location forever, it would probably be Paris that I would choose for eternity.
What do you consider your greatest (most Fabulous) achievement?
MB: That my kids are happy, open people.
What is your (Fabulous) motto?
MB: Carpe diem: Seize the day.
